Olney Farmers Market Guide The Olney Farmers and Artists Market is the brainchild of Olney resident Janet Terry. Janet was inspired by her visits to the outstanding Farmers Market in Charleston, South Carolina. She had a vision to bring a quality farmers market to serve Olney. Her idea was presented to GOCA (Greater Olney Civic Association) in July 2007 and has grown into reality from there.
If you come down to Olney Farmers Market you can find stalls selling wine, bread, pastries, fish, apples, raspberries, honey products, candles and a delightful variety of vegetables. This is definitely worth a visit.
Every first Sunday of the Month - 9:00am to 1:00pm | | What Is A Farmers Market?
A Farmers' Market is a venue for local farmers and people making food with local ingredients to sell their produce directly to you. There are certain rules that should apply to a genuine Farmers' Market.
Producers must be local defined as within a specified radius of the Market site (usually 25/30 miles).
Producers must sell only their own produce All products sold must have been produced by the stallholder The person behind the stall must be the producer, a close family member or an employee directly involved with production.
Local Produce The average Farmers' Market produce has travelled less than 30 miles, and may have been picked on the day you buy it.
When you shop at a Farmers' Market you have the freedom to ask questions about what you are buying and the person behind the stall will have the answers because they have produced what they are selling.
